Packaging + Fulfillment
How are your products packaged for shipment?
As a general rule of thumb, all our products are packaged in paper or plastic mailers or cardboard boxes. Depending on local supply availability, packaging can be made of recycled, partially recycled, or virgin materials. Whenever needed, we use clear mailers, tissue paper, foam pouches, or bubble wrap to protect products from breaking or scratching.
The most commonly used packaging in our facilities is a post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic mailer. If there’s more than one product, after putting each item in its own separate transparent polymer bag, we then place them all together in a PCR polymer mailer.
PCR plastics are made from items people recycle every day, like plastic bags and bottles. Most of our PCR plastics are made from shopping bags and wrapping films.
The amount of PCR in the packaging differs for each fulfillment location, but it’s at least 50% for the outside (white or grey) poly mailer bags and at least 30% for the inside (clear) bags used in multi-item shipments.
As of May 2022, we’re starting to gradually switch to 90%–100% PCR plastic packaging for apparel products in our in-house facilities all over North America.
Are the packaging materials recyclable?
Depending on the product type and fulfillment location, your products are packaged in post-consumer-recycled (PCR) plastic mailers, kraft mailers, or cardboard boxes.
Our PCR plastic mailers are made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE), categorized as number 4-coded plastic. This material is recyclable, but number 4-coded plastic doesn’t usually belong in an everyday recycling bin. Typically, it has to be recycled at designated drop-off points.
We suggest contacting your local waste management service provider and asking for instructions on sorting 4-coded plastic.
Kraft mailers and cardboard boxes are also recyclable and can be sorted in the paper recycling bins.
Remember!
It’s always good practice to research what kind of materials belong in your recycling bins. If you recycle the wrong material, it can contaminate the entire batch.
Are your packaging materials sustainable?
We know sustainable packaging is important to our customers, and we’re committed to finding the most sustainable solutions we can.
Currently, we are using packaging made of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics for all apparel orders shipped from our in-house facilities.
The share of recycled plastic per bag depends on each facility, but worldwide it’s at least 70% for the outside (white or grey) packaging and at least 50% for the inside (clear) bags used in multi-item shipments.
We completely switched to 90%–100% PCR plastic packaging for apparel products in our in-house facilities all over North America.
PCR packaging protects the products just as well as virgin plastic bags and looks almost the same. However, choosing PCR plastic over virgin plastic is the right thing to do to minimize the environmental impact plastic has on our planet.
We’re continuously working on becoming more sustainable, and we’ll keep exploring greener packaging options in the future.
How long does fulfillment take?
Fulfillment time is the time it takes to make your custom-ordered product. Our fulfillment time is calculated in business days, and it’s 2–5 business days for all production techniques.
97.66% of our orders are shipped within 5 business days. More than 50% of our orders are shipped within 3 business days or fewer.
Please note:
Fulfillment time doesn't include shipping. To get an idea of how long an order will take to reach its destination, combine the estimated fulfillment time with the estimated shipping time.
The fulfillment averages you see in our catalog are calculated based on our fulfillment data for each product within the time frame of 30 days.
Our fulfillment averages don't account for the time an order might be put on hold.
Fulfillment for large orders may take longer on average, but it’ll still be fulfilled within 5 business days.
Our fulfillment times are an estimate, but not a guarantee.
Can I change an order that is already submitted?
Yes, you can change an order that has already been submitted unless it has the status of Being Fulfilled. Click the Change order button from your order view and edit the products and shipping options from there.
Note that changing a product within an order (e.g. altering a product's variant, size, design file, or mockup) that has the Waiting for Fulfillment status, or setting its status to On Hold, will reset the order deadline. This may result in a longer fulfillment time. However, changing a shipping address or rate will not reset the order deadline.
How can I check the status of an order?
From your KNITTD Dashboard you will see your order history under "Orders." When choosing a specific order, a new window will appear with additional details. Here you will find your order status.
Your order will reflect one of the following statuses:
Being Fulfilled - Your order is ready for fulfillment and the process has begun. Estimated time for completion will show in the status bar. Typically fulfillment time is 2-5 business days.
Canceled - Your order was canceled. Click "Copy order" to resubmit a matching order.
Draft - Your order has not yet been confirmed or completed. Click "Confirm order" to finish submitting it.
Failed - Your order was imported as a draft because payment failed. Viewing the order will show the reason payment failed. Find out more about failed orders here.
Fulfilled - Your order was printed and packaged and is ready to go! The Tracking Info button should appear next to your shipment information and if the level of service selected for shipping included tracking your updates should go live within 24 hours. You will receive a notification from us once the order has left our building.
Needs approval - Your order was imported to Printful but needs to be manually confirmed:
The product wasn't synced when the order was submitted. Click "Complete order" and sync the product to finish submitting the order.
At the time of the order, the setting “Manually confirm imported orders” was enabled. Click "Complete order" to finish submitting the order. Order import settings can be managed in your Dashboard under Stores → Edit → Orders.
Not Synced - Your order was imported to Printful but didn't begin fulfillment because some or all products were unsynced. Click "Complete order" to finish submitting the order by syncing or ignoring the products.
On Hold - Your order has been placed on hold. This is usually due to an item being out of stock, an issue regarding graphics, mockups, or other potential issues that we need to address with you. Check the hold notes for details on what we need from you. Contact us if you have any questions.
Partially Fulfilled - Your order may contain products that do not ship together. In this case, you may see the order as partially fulfilled. This means some portion of your overall order is already complete and we are still working on another shipment in that same order. You will see tracking information for any packages that have already been shipped out.
Returned - Your order was returned to a Printful facility. Check the return notes to confirm the reason.
Waiting for fulfillment - Your order was submitted and received by Printful and is waiting for the fulfillment process to begin.
